Gran Turismo 7 Reportedly Hits 12.7 Million Sales, $840 Million Revenue
Analyst estimates put the PS5 racer at 12.7 million copies sold and $840 million in revenue, making it a long-tail blockbuster that Sony has kept off PS Plus.
Gran Turismo 7 just quietly turned into one of Sony's biggest money-makers. According to estimates from Rhys Elliott, an analyst at data firm Alinea Analytics, the 2022 racer has now sold around 12.7 million copies and pulled in roughly $840 million in revenue.
Here's the wild part: that single-platform haul reportedly beats the combined lifetime revenue of hot new releases like Helldivers 2, Ghost of Yotei, and Marvel's Wolverine. Those games may dominate your feed, but GT7 keeps humming along in the background.
And it's not slowing down. The game still pulls in around 3 million players every month, with daily active users sitting somewhere between 400,000 and 700,000. That's the definition of an evergreen title, the kind that just refuses to leave the track.
The sales chart tells the same story. GT7 has reportedly racked up solid numbers every year since launch, and the holiday season is its happy place. Over the past three years, revenue during Christmas week has hit 3 to 5 times a normal week's take. What's more, the game has mostly held its $59.99 price tag instead of getting slashed in discounts, which says a lot about how well it keeps selling at full price.
That also explains why Sony has been in no rush to drop GT7 into the PS Plus library. Putting a game on the subscription service can eat into the big revenue a buy-to-play model brings in, and with numbers like these, Sony clearly likes the current arrangement.
So what do you think? Is GT7 the most underrated money-printer on PlayStation, or are you still waiting for it to show up on PS Plus? Let us know in the comments.
