TFT Set 18 Riftbeast Comps: Sentinel vs Krug Build Guide

Compare the Riftbeast Sentinel and Riftbeast Krug TFT Set 18 comps, with unit shells, reroll direction, positioning, and pivot advice for Patch 18.1.

Riftbeast appears in several current Set 18 boards, and the two names most likely to appear in comp lists are Riftbeast Sentinel and Riftbeast Krug. They share a theme but do not play exactly the same way.

## Riftbeast Sentinel

The Sentinel version uses Sentinel, Elder Dragon, Brambleback, Krug, Gnar, Taric, Murkwolf, and Pebbles. It is a more standard board that can use a balanced front line and late-game upgrades. The recent data snapshot placed it in A tier with a strong top-four rate.

## Riftbeast Krug

The Krug version is more associated with a Level 7 reroll pattern. Krug and Pebbles are key units, joined by Mama Beak, Brambleback, Sentinel, Gromp, Murkwolf, and Scuttlecrab. It has a larger pick rate than the Sentinel variant in the current data snapshot, which also means it can be more contested.

## How to choose

Choose the Sentinel route when you have a stable opening and want a flexible, standard curve. Choose the Krug route when the shop gives you early copies of Krug and Pebbles and your economy supports rerolling at Level 7. Do not swap between them every round; commit when the upgraded units and traits line up.

## Item strategy

Give defensive items to the unit actually receiving the most damage, then place remaining attack or ability-power items on the carry indicated by your two-star units. Avoid copying a generic item list if your version of the board has a different primary damage source.

## Scouting and positioning

Riftbeast boards want a stable front-to-back fight. Put the main tank where it can collect enemy aggro, protect fragile damage dealers, and avoid being isolated by a side attack. Scout each round for hooks, backline access, and area damage.

## Pivot rule

If the required one- and two-cost copies do not appear by the time your planned reroll window closes, preserve health by moving into another front-to-back composition. The value of Riftbeast comes from completed upgrades, not from keeping an incomplete trait active.

Both variants are useful Set 18 alternatives when the headline AP comps are contested. Read the shop and the lobby before choosing a name from the tier list.
