TFT Set 18 Fast 8 vs Fast 9: How to Reach the Best Comps

Understand when to Fast 8, when to Fast 9, and when to reroll in TFT Set 18 so you can reach the right late-game comp without bleeding out.

A Set 18 tier list tells you which boards are performing well, but it does not tell you how to reach them. Your leveling plan should match the comp's carry cost and the health of your current board.

## When to Fast 9

Fast 9 is best when your early board is strong, your economy is healthy, and you are not losing too much health while saving. Spellweaver Ahri is a clear example of a line that can benefit from a late Level 9 roll for expensive two-star units.

## When to Fast 8

Fast 8 is a safer compromise. You reach Level 8 soon enough to find important four-cost units, stabilize, and decide whether Level 9 is realistic. Use this when your board is playable but not strong enough to greed indefinitely.

## When to reroll

Sprykin Veigar wants a Level 5 reroll window. Defender Cassiopeia and several Set 18 alternatives want Level 7 slow roll. If your comp's key units are low cost, leveling past their best shop odds too early can make the plan worse.

## The health test

Ask whether you can survive the next two stages while saving. If the answer is no, spend enough gold to make a functional board. A theoretical Fast 9 cap is worthless if you are eliminated before reaching it.

## The contest test

Count the copies of your intended carry in the shop and inspect other boards. If two players are rerolling the same unit, pivot early or change the plan. Contested comps need more time, more luck, or a high-quality augment to succeed.

## The item test

Items should point toward the same carry as the shop. If you have AP components but only find physical carries, use a flexible holder and keep your options open until the next carousel.

Good TFT play is not pressing the level button on schedule. It is matching timing to board strength, economy, health, items, and contesting.
