Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 Pre-Orders Open, Free Prologue Demo Out Now

Capcom has opened pre-orders for Monster Hunter Wilds on Switch 2, priced at HK$223 standard and HK$598 Gold, ahead of a December 4, 2026 launch. A free prologue demo with local four-player co-op is also live.
Monster Hunter Wilds is officially on its way to the Switch 2, and you can lock in your copy right now. Capcom has opened pre-orders for the Switch 2 version, with the standard edition priced at HK$223 and the Gold edition at HK$598. The game lands on December 4, 2026.
For anyone who's been waiting to hunt on Nintendo's new hardware, that's a pretty tempting entry point, especially with the Gold edition on offer for those who want the extras.
But the bigger news might be what you can play today. A free prologue demo for the Switch 2 version is now live, letting you sample the opening stretch of the game at no cost. That includes character creation, the story's opening prologue, and Chapters 1 through 3, up to the "Into the Forest" section.
There's a local multiplayer twist here too. The prologue demo supports local wireless play, so you and up to three friends can gather your Switch 2 consoles in one place and hunt together as a group of four. Just keep in mind that the demo can't use online features, so co-op is strictly limited to local communication.
Here's the part that'll save you some time: your save data from the demo carries over to the full game. That means you can build your character and push through the early story now, then pick right back up when the full release arrives instead of starting from scratch.
Monster Hunter Wilds first launched in February 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, and it's the latest mainline entry in Capcom's long-running hunting series. The Switch 2 version arrives on Friday, December 4, 2026, and a new prologue demo trailer gives you an early look at the opening content and how local co-op works on the platform.
So, are you jumping into the prologue demo this weekend, or holding out for the full hunt in December? Let us know which weapon you're maining.
