AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT Hits 75 FPS in Cyberpunk 2077 With Unofficial DLSS 5 Tool

An open-source modder has ported NVIDIA's DLSS 5 neural renderer to AMD's RDNA 4 GPUs, pushing the RX 9070 XT from a barely-playable 30 FPS to 75 FPS in Cyberpunk 2077.
NVIDIA says DLSS 5 is a strictly RTX 50-series affair. The open-source community apparently didn't get the memo.
A developer going by Daniel Blanco has been quietly cooking up an unofficial tool called DLSS-NR-on-AMD, and the results are kind of absurd. According to Wccftech, the project has been shipping Alpha builds at a breakneck pace, taking the Radeon RX 9070 XT in Cyberpunk 2077 from a struggling 30 FPS all the way up to 75 FPS at 1080p in Fast mode. That's a jump of over 200 percent.
The secret sauce here isn't FSR dressed up in a fake mustache. According to TweakTown, the tool uses a custom executable paired with a specific version of NVIDIA's DLSS DLL to actually port the real DLSS 5 neural renderer onto RDNA 4 hardware. In other words, AMD cards are running the genuine article, not a lookalike.
The pace of improvement is wild. Alpha 0.3.3 brought a 23 percent gain over the previous build, Alpha 0.4.0 piled on another 42 percent, and Alpha 0.4.1 added 8 percent on top. That's 74 percent in a single day. Then Alpha 0.4.2 introduced a "Fast mode" for RX 9000 series cards, trimming the arithmetic down while keeping visual differences "almost imperceptible" for another 15 percent bump. The latest Alpha 0.4.3 pushed things further with a 20 percent gain in Reference mode and 18 percent in Fast mode, finally crossing the 75 FPS line. PC Guide has already nicknamed this build "The 75 FPS Update."
Right now, RX 9000 series cards default to Fast mode, while RX 7000 series owners are still on Reference mode. The visual gap between the two is described as "hard to notice." And Cyberpunk 2077 isn't the only beneficiary. The tool reportedly hits 100 FPS in A Plague Tale: Requiem with 4x frame generation enabled.
Before you rush off to download it, a few caveats. This is still an Alpha-stage, unofficial mod that relies on DLL injection. Real-world performance and compatibility will vary depending on your GPU, the game, and your settings. But when you look at the RX 9070 XT going from "basically unplayable" to a smooth 75 FPS, it's hard not to be impressed. The open-source crowd is doing in days what official channels might take months or years to figure out.
