Why I Use Two Completely Different Mice for Work and Gaming

One writer's quest for the perfect mouse ended with two: a Logitech MX Master 4 for work and a Razer Cobra HyperSpeed for gaming. Here's why he's a dual-wielder now.
Ever spent months hunting for the perfect gaming mouse, only to end up with two completely different ones? That's exactly where I am. After years of searching for a mouse that fits my hands and my needs, I've settled on a duo that couldn't be more different: the Logitech MX Master 4 and the Razer Cobra HyperSpeed. And honestly? I think I'm a two-mouse guy now.
Let's start with the workhorse. The MX Master 4 is an ergonomic mouse with a shape that's perfect for all-day work. It's near-silent, which my household appreciates, and it's got a horizontal scroll wheel for spreadsheets plus programmable buttons that make daily tasks easier. The catch? Its sensor isn't great for gaming. I actually prefer the MX Master 3S, but I damaged the rubber coating on mine when I took it apart for cleaning, so I switched to the newer model. It's not quite as comfy, but it still gets the job done.
Then there's the Razer Cobra HyperSpeed. This tiny rodent is the complete opposite: it's small, which makes it perfect for quick fingertip movements, and it's got a speedy sensor, brilliantly clicky switches, and a little dash of near-tasteful RGB lighting underneath. For fast-paced games, it's exactly what I need, and it didn't break the bank either.
Looking at them side by side, they're chalk and cheese. Neither is perfect on its own, but switching between them is the best solution I've found. It's a bit like cars: in an ideal world, I'd have a big, comfortable cruiser for the office and a little sports car for weekend fun. That's exactly how I use these two mice.
But the stark difference makes me wonder: does the perfect mouse even exist? I've tried plenty over the years, and this combo is the one I've stuck with. Neither is the best on the market for everything, but once you find a system that works, it's hard to change. So I guess I'm a dual-wielder from now on—and I'm not alone. Several other PC Gamer team members do the same. What's next, two gaming chairs? This double-hardware lifestyle is going to get expensive, I can tell.
What about you? Do you use different mice for work and play, or have you found one that does it all? Let us know in the comments!
