PS6 Rumored to Bring Back Classic Single-Player Epics: Uncharted, God of War and More

Sony may be doubling down on traditional single-player narrative games for PS6, with rumors swirling about new Uncharted, God of War, Killzone, and inFamous projects.

Sony might be going back to what it does best. According to new industry chatter, the PlayStation maker is reportedly shifting its strategy for the PS6 generation, putting more money and focus into big, traditional single-player narrative games. If you've been missing the days of epic, story-driven blockbusters, this could be your lucky break.

The rumor comes from known insider TCMF, who claims Sony is reallocating resources away from some external partnerships and into its own first-party studios and core franchises. One example making the rounds is Hideo Kojima's Physint project, which Sony is said to be scaling back its involvement in. The idea? Beef up the PS6 launch lineup with heavy hitters you can only get on PlayStation.

So what's supposedly in the works? First up, a Killzone remake is being discussed. Word is it could be handled by a third-party team with oversight from Guerrilla Games, the original creators. That would be a blast from the past for fans of the gritty shooter series.

Over at Santa Monica Studio, the team is rumored to be cooking up another God of War game. Given how massive God of War Ragnarök was, it's no surprise Sony would want more Kratos. Meanwhile, the inFamous series might also be getting a fresh reimagining, though details are scarce.

And what about Naughty Dog? After wrapping up its current project, the studio is said to be returning to core IPs like Uncharted and The Last of Us for sequels, optimized for the new hardware. That means more Nathan Drake-style adventures and possibly another chapter in Ellie and Abby's world.

Other internal studios like Team Asobi, Media Molecule, and Bend Studio could also be taking on bigger roles, as Sony concentrates its resources on first-party exclusives to fill out the PS6's early years and beyond.

Of course, none of this is official. Sony hasn't confirmed any of these projects, and it's all still firmly in rumor territory. But if even half of this pans out, the PS6 could be a dream console for fans of single-player storytelling. What do you think?
