Ocarina of Time Remake File Size Leaks – Biggest Mainline Zelda on Switch

The Switch 2 remake of Ocarina of Time reportedly weighs in at 27GB, making it the largest mainline Zelda game on a Nintendo platform if the leak holds up.
Well, this is a chunky one. The Switch 2 remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has apparently had its file size leak, and it's a big number – around 27GB, according to a report from Everyeye.
To put that into perspective, the original 1998 N64 cartridge was just 32MB. That means this remake is over 800 times larger than the game you blew into as a kid. Times have changed, huh?
The source of the leak is journalist Genki_JPN, who snapped photos of the first batch of download-code cards at a Japanese retailer. The cards reportedly list 27GB right on the packaging.
Now, 27GB isn't massive by modern standards – plenty of games dwarf that. But if the number is accurate, it would make this the biggest mainline Zelda title on a Nintendo platform. For comparison, Everyeye notes that Breath of the Wild on Switch 2 sits at around 24GB, while Tears of the Kingdom is 20GB. Link's Awakening and Echoes of Wisdom are both around 5GB.
The only Zelda game bigger? That would be the spin-off Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, which clocks in at roughly 43.5GB.
Of course, a file size doesn't tell you how much content, visual overhaul, or audio work has gone into the remake. For that, we'll have to wait for official word from Nintendo.
So, what do you think? Does a 27GB Ocarina of Time remake get you excited for a full-blown reimagining, or are you happy with the original? Let us know in the comments!
