GTA 6 Xbox File Size Leaks — and It's Bigger Than Rockstar Said
A known GTA blogger claims Microsoft's API shows GTA 6 at around 225GB on Xbox Series X|S — noticeably more than Rockstar's official 212GB preload estimate. Clear your drives now.
Thought you had enough space for GTA 6? You might want to double-check that. A fresh leak suggests the Xbox version is even chunkier than Rockstar originally let on.
Well-known GTA blogger iGrandTheftAuto posted that they'd verified download size data for the Xbox Series X|S version of GTA 6 through Microsoft's DisplayCatalog API, crediting user @Cokymoky69 for the tip. According to the post, the global version weighs in at 209.86 GiB — roughly 225.34GB — while the Japanese version sits at 208.74 GiB, or about 224.14GB. That's a gap of around 1.2GB between the two releases.
Compare that to what Rockstar has officially said: players were told to set aside up to 212GB of storage for the preload files, meaning plenty of us are already eyeing our hard drives and wondering what to delete. The new figure lands noticeably above that official number, so if you were planning to squeeze the game in at the last minute, you may need a bigger cleanup than expected.
There's a catch, though. The post only gives a single number and doesn't clarify what's actually included — whether it covers the day-one patch, multiple language packs, or future updates. Based on how previous big-budget releases have played out, the real install footprint could differ from what's listed here, and the only reliable source remains official word from Rockstar.
For now, treat this as a strong hint rather than gospel. GTA 6 is shaping up to be a serious storage hog no matter which platform you're on, so clearing out those old games early is probably a smart move. Keep an eye out for official confirmation as launch gets closer.
How much space are you setting aside for GTA 6 — and what's the first game getting the boot to make room? Let us know in the comments.
