Free GTA 6 TGS Shirt Resold for Over $200 by Scalpers

A free GTA 6 t-shirt handed out at Tokyo Game Show 2026 is already being flipped online for more than $200, with one Osaka seller moving two at nearly $220 each.
You know a game is hyped when even a free t-shirt becomes a hot commodity. At Tokyo Game Show 2026, PlayStation was handing out GTA 6 promo tees for nothing — and scalpers wasted zero time turning them into a payday.
The shirts were only available to people who sat through the immersive GTA 6 Netflix special trailer screening at the PlayStation booth. That showing came with vibration feedback and surround sound, which pulled in a massive line of eager fans. Video from the floor shows the crowd quickly bunching up, and the booth ended up shutting down after roughly ten minutes because it simply couldn't handle the numbers.
It wasn't the only crowd-control headache that day. Red Bull had to pause giving out its light-up metal cups due to safety concerns over the crush of people, only resuming later in the day.
Meanwhile, the resale market for that free GTA 6 shirt went wild fast. According to reports, Japan's Mercari marketplace saw listings for over 12,000 yen — about $76 — before the public even got through the doors. As demand kept climbing, eBay prices shot past the $200 mark.
Dexerto confirmed multiple active and completed sales, including one seller from Osaka who offloaded two shirts at $219.99 each — and that price even included free shipping and import fees.
It's not just the GTA 6 tee, either. Other freebies from TGS are getting the same treatment, like Palworld and Final Fantasy card game promo cards, plus the latest Game Freak fan magazine.
For GTA 6, this kind of scalping circus is nothing new. Back in June, players were already paying premiums on eBay just for pre-order eligibility. Now a giveaway t-shirt is fetching over $200 — which tells you everything about just how ravenous the hype for this game has become.
