Final Fantasy 7 Remake Director Thanks Chinese Fans on Weibo

FF7 Remake series director Naoki Hamaguchi thanks Chinese players for their warm response on Weibo and looks ahead to Final Fantasy 7: Revelation's April 8, 2027 launch.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake series director Naoki Hamaguchi has a message for Chinese fans: thank you. The director took to his personal Weibo account to share his gratitude and excitement, saying the response since he opened the account three weeks ago has been far bigger than he ever imagined.
He described himself as both surprised and moved by the warmth from Chinese players, and promised to keep using Weibo to share updates about game development and future projects. It's a pretty wholesome moment for a director who's clearly feeling the love.
Hamaguchi also looked ahead to Final Fantasy 7: Revelation, the final chapter of Square Enix's remake trilogy, launching April 8, 2027. He told fans he hopes to reach that day together with them, calling it the important endpoint of a very long journey.
If you've been following the remake saga, you know that journey has spanned more than a decade. Revelation picks up after Remake and Rebirth, with Cloud and the crew facing off against Sephiroth one last time as the planet teeters on the brink of destruction. It's the conclusion fans have been waiting for.
The game is set to launch simultaneously on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC. And it's not just wrapping up the story; it's also shaking up how you explore the world. For the first time in the series, the iconic airship Highwind becomes a fully controllable vehicle. You can fly it across a massive open world, then skydive from the deck to land anywhere you want and start exploring on foot.
Combat keeps the real-time action and command hybrid the remake is known for, but adds a new twist with the FITS tactical outfit system. Swap into job-themed gear like Warrior, Knight, Black Mage, or Summoner, and your character's moves and battle role change accordingly. Cid and Vincent also officially join the playable roster, and even side quests now let you choose which party member takes the lead, leading to different routes and outcomes depending on your picks.
It's a lot to look forward to, and Hamaguchi's message makes it clear he's just as hyped as we are. What do you think about the Highwind finally being drivable, or the new job system? Let us know in the comments.
