EVE Online GM Week Returns Sept 28 With Loot Pinatas

EVE Online's annual GM Week kicks off September 28, celebrating the Game Masters with spaceship loot pinatas and more. Here's what you need to know.

Ever wonder who's actually answering your EVE Online support ticket at 3am when your ship gets ganked in lowsec? That would be the Game Masters, and next week they're finally getting their moment in the spotlight.

GM Week is coming back to EVE Online starting September 28, and it's shaping up to be a proper celebration of the folks who keep New Eden running. According to Fenris Creations, these are the people who answer support tickets, support released features, and monitor server issues and policy infractions. Basically, they do a lot of the heavy lifting that most players never think about.

If you've ever filed a ticket after losing a ship to something weird, or reported a player breaking the rules, you've already interacted with a GM. They're the invisible crew keeping the wheels on this massive sandbox. And honestly, working support for a game as famously chaotic as EVE has to be one of the more thankless jobs in gaming.

So what's actually happening during GM Week? The headline draw is spaceship loot pinatas, which should give players a fun reason to log in and celebrate alongside the GM team. Details beyond that are still light, but the theme is clear: this is about honoring the people behind the scenes.

The event kicks off September 28, so you've got a bit of time to clear your schedule and get your ships ready. If you're an active EVE player, this is a nice excuse to jump back in. If you've been away from New Eden for a while, a loot-filled celebration is about as good a reason as any to undock again.

It's also a reminder that behind every MMO there's a human team dealing with the good, the bad, and the bizarre. EVE players are famously creative when it comes to causing chaos, which means the GM crew has probably seen it all. GM Week is a chance to give them a little credit for that.

Mark your calendars for September 28 and keep an eye out for more details as the event approaches. Will you be logging in for GM Week? What do you think the loot pinatas will drop?
