DoorDash AI Agent Will Order Your Pizza Via Text

DoorDash is testing an AI agent that lets you order food by texting through iMessage. It suggests meals based on your history, but only iOS users can join the beta for now.
Ever wished you could just text someone to order your dinner? DoorDash is making that a reality with a new AI agent that takes your food orders via iMessage. The company announced the feature earlier this week, and it's designed to save you from scrolling through the app.
Here's how it works: you text the AI agent what you're craving, and it browses local restaurants to give you suggestions. It even remembers your past orders and modifications. For example, you can ask for your usual Friday night order, and it'll know exactly what you want.
But wait—isn't it easier to just open the app? DoorDash already shows your recent orders at the top, so texting might actually take more effort. It's a bit ironic, but hey, some people love the convenience of texting.
This isn't the first time we've seen text-based ordering. Domino's let customers order pizza by tweeting an emoji back in 2015, and SMS ordering was common before smartphones. So in a way, this is a throwback to simpler times.
If you're on iOS and want to try it, you can sign up for the beta on DoorDash's website. Android users will have to wait—no word yet on when they'll get access. The feature is still in testing, and there's no release date for the full rollout.
Whether you find it useful or unnecessary, it's clear that DoorDash is pushing to make ordering even more effortless. Will you be texting for your next meal? Let us know in the comments!
