Control Resonant: Should You Eat the Mold?

Wondering if eating the Mold in Control Resonant is a good idea? We break down what happens, the consequences, and why you should just go for it.
Ever found yourself staring at a weird, glowing pile of Mold in Control Resonant and wondering, 'Should I really eat this?' Well, you're not alone. Characters have been warning Dylan not to eat the Mold, but they never really explain why. So, what's the deal?
Spoiler warning: We're about to dive into The Park Resonant questline, so if you haven't gotten there yet, maybe come back later. But if you're stuck, here's the scoop: Yes, you should absolutely eat the Mold. It's the only way to progress the questline, and there's no downside. That's right—no negative effects. In fact, you'll have to eat several more pieces as you go.
After your first taste in The Park, you'll need to find four more Mold pieces at marked locations. Each one is guarded by Mold enemies, so you'll have to defeat them to get your hands on the stuff. Once you've eaten all five pieces, Dylan can return to the first spot and pass through the barrier that was blocking him. That barrier leads to the Resonant boss fight beneath.
So, why the warnings? It's implied that eating the Mold messes with your brain and pulls you into a hive mind controlled by the cosmic fungus. But thanks to Dylan's paranatural abilities, he can resist most of its influence. So, no worries—you won't turn into a Mold zombie.
Once you're through that barrier, you'll face the boss and unlock all the Mold-themed powers and combat abilities in Control Resonant. So, don't hesitate—chow down on that Mold. It's the key to unlocking more of the game's content and moving forward.
What do you think? Were you hesitant to eat the Mold at first? Let us know in the comments!
