Control Resonant Painting Puzzle: Solved in Seconds

Stuck on the shadowy gallery puzzle in Control Resonant? Here's exactly which paintings to light up to open the secret door and grab a Health Upgrade Point.
Ever wandered into a dark gallery in Control Resonant, found a cryptic note about sold paintings, and just... stared at the walls? You're not alone. The painting puzzle has stumped plenty of players, mainly because the clue only gives you names โ "Journey, Windows, Thunder and Tides" โ and none of the artwork is labelled.
Here's the setup. You're in a shadowy gallery where you can spotlight paintings using controls on the pillars. A note on the countertop tells you certain paintings were sold this month, listing those four names. That's it. No arrows, no hints, just vibes and a lot of squinting at trees.
The trick is matching each name to the right canvas. It's not always obvious, so here's the exact lineup you need to illuminate.
Journey is the middle painting on the left wall โ look for a road beneath a tree. Windows is the left painting on the far wall, showing curling, looping vines in a forest. Thunder sits in the far right corner, the left painting, and it's a tree split by lightning. Finally, Tides is the middle painting on the right wall, depicting a tree that's fallen into water.
Light those four up correctly and the spotlights will flash, a secret door in the corner of the room swings open, and you're in. Down below you'll find several collectibles plus a resource container holding a Health Upgrade Point. Worth the hassle? Absolutely โ that upgrade sticks with you.
If you're hunting the other Secret Rooms in Manhattan, this is just one piece of the puzzle. There's also the Washing Machine puzzle to track down, plus plenty of other oddities like the Karaoke lyrics, FBC Terminals, the mold-eating decision, and the Urban Survival mine-planter. Control Resonant clearly loves hiding things behind cryptic clues.
So next time a note gives you nothing but painting names, don't panic โ just remember Journey, Windows, Thunder and Tides, and match them to the art. What do you think of this puzzle? Did you figure it out on your own, or did you need a nudge?
