Xbox's New Game Tile Tags: Achievement Tracking Made Easy?
Xbox is rolling out new Game Tile Tags that show achievement progress and social info right on your dashboard. Currently limited to certain Xbox Insiders.
Ever wish you could see your achievement progress without diving into a game's menu? Xbox might have you covered. The company has started rolling out a new dashboard feature called 'Game Tile Tags' that displays handy info like achievement progress and social details right on your game tiles. But is it a cool addition or just more clutter? You decide.
Right now, the tags are only available to certain Xbox Insiders, likely those in the Alpha and Alpha Skip-Ahead rings. So if you're not in those rings, you won't see them yet. But for those testing it, the feature adds small tags inside or above the game tiles on your dashboard, giving you a quick glance at things like how close you are to unlocking an achievement or what your friends are up to.
It's a neat idea: instead of navigating away from your dashboard, you get relevant info right where you need it. But some might worry it could make the dashboard feel crowded. After all, the Xbox dashboard already shows a lot, and adding more could be overwhelming. However, if done right, these tags could be a time-saver for achievement hunters and social gamers alike.
Microsoft hasn't shared a broader rollout timeline yet, so it's unclear when or if this will hit everyone. For now, it's an experiment. If you're an Insider, you might already have it. If not, you'll have to wait and see.
What do you think? Are Game Tile Tags a welcome addition or unnecessary clutter? Let us know in the comments!
