Xbox's Answer to PlayStation Platinum Trophies: Mythic Achievements Leak

Xbox is rolling out Mythic Achievements, a new completion reward that works like PlayStation's Platinum Trophy. It's worth 0 Gamerscore and applies retroactively.

Ever finished a game 100% on Xbox and felt like you had nothing to show for it beyond a shiny 1,000 Gamerscore? Well, Xbox is finally doing something about that.

The Xbox PC app has seemingly unveiled Mythic Achievements, which is basically Xbox's take on PlayStation's Platinum Trophy. Earlier this year, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma confirmed the team was working on something for the Achievement system, and said it would arrive later this year. Now, it looks like that update is right around the corner.

If you're not familiar with how PlayStation handles this: when you unlock every Trophy in a game, you get a Platinum trophy as the ultimate "I did everything" badge. On Xbox, you've just had the 1,000 Gamerscore. That's about to change. Last week, a user uncovered a filter that namedropped a Mythic Achievement, and now the Xbox PC app has been updated with the reveal of the Mythic Achievement symbol and its unlock sound effect.

According to a source speaking to TrueAchievements, here's how it'll work: Mythic Achievements will be awarded when you complete the base game, with DLC achievements not counting toward completion. They'll be worth 0 Gamerscore. And the best part? They'll be retroactively applied to any games you've already completed. So if you've already 100%'d a bunch of titles, you might log in to find a pile of Mythics waiting for you.

The source also says the system is set to launch soon, and with updates appearing on both the Xbox console and PC app, that certainly seems to be the case. It's still unclear whether this will hit the Xbox Insider Program first or just roll out for everyone, but we'll likely find out in the coming weeks.

So what do you think? Are you excited to finally have a proper completion badge on Xbox, or is 0 Gamerscore a dealbreaker? Will you be hunting down Mythic Achievements when they go live? Let us know in the comments!
