WoW: The Last Titan Cinematic Revealed at BlizzCon 2026

BlizzCon 2026 gave us a first look at The Last Titan cinematic, but WoW fans are heading back to Northrend only after a showdown with Xal'atath in Midnight's Eclipse update.

Did you catch the BlizzCon 2026 opening ceremony? If you're a World of Warcraft fan, you just got your first taste of The Last Titan, and it's already looking like a wild ride.

As is BlizzCon tradition, a brand-new WoW cinematic premiered during the ceremony, setting the stage for the MMORPG's next expansion, The Last Titan. But here's the twist: in a departure from the usual BlizzCon playbook, that glimpse was just about all fans learned about the new expansion. Instead, Blizzard put the spotlight on the final content patch of the game's current Midnight expansion.

That update is called Eclipse, and it's building toward a climactic showdown with the franchise's current main villain, Xal'atath. An in-game cinematic shown during the ceremony revealed her true objective: merging with Azeroth's worldsoul to become unstoppable. Yeah, that's a big deal. If you've been following the Void storyline, you know this is the kind of stakes-raising moment that changes everything.

But wait, there's more coming before The Last Titan. Blizzard also teased a new standalone game mode, plus yet another expansion Remix experience, both headed to Midnight before the expansion wraps up. So even after Eclipse, you'll have plenty to keep you busy.

As for The Last Titan's setting, it takes players back to Northrend, the continent we first explored way back in 2008's Wrath of the Lich King. Much like how Blizzard revamped Silvermoon City and the Blood Elf lands of Quel'thalas in Midnight to great results, Northrend will be completely rebuilt from the ground up. That's right, a full glow-up for one of WoW's most iconic regions. Blizzard said more details about The Last Titan will be shared next year, so we'll have to wait a bit for the full picture.

Let's rewind for a second. The Last Titan was first announced at BlizzCon 2023, when Blizzard made the unprecedented move of announcing an entire trilogy of expansions all at once. Collectively, they're called The Worldsoul Saga, with the goal of bringing together many of WoW's disparate storylines from over the last 20 years into one fitting conclusion.

As the end of that trilogy, The Last Titan has a lot of expectations to live up to, especially since the main storylines of The War Within and Midnight haven't exactly met every fan's hopes. Still, it's going to be exciting to see how Blizzard ties two decades' worth of story involving the Void, the Titans, and Azeroth herself into one cohesive package. Will it stick the landing? Only time will tell.
