WoW: Forever Beta Impressions – Classic Plus Done Right?

World of Warcraft: Forever revives the original WoW spirit with a new race, level cap 60, and quality-of-life upgrades. Our beta impressions reveal a packed, community-driven Azeroth.
Ever wish you could go back to the glory days of World of Warcraft, but without all the outdated annoyances? That's exactly what World of Warcraft: Forever is serving up, and after spending time in its beta, it feels like a genuine homecoming.
Forever is being called Classic Plus by fans, and that's a perfect description. It takes the tougher original difficulty of WoW Classic and mixes in quality-of-life improvements from modern Retail WoW. Think of it as the version you remember, but with a fresh coat of paint. There's a new race called Skyborne, improved visuals, and a hard level cap of 60. That means no expansion packs ever. Instead, progression will be horizontal with new gear, max-level zones, and dungeons. It's a bold move for a game called Forever, and honestly, a little confusing—but we're here for it.
The beta currently caps you at level 20, with plans to raise it to 30 before the beta ends in late October. When the game officially launches on November 4, 2026, servers will wipe and everyone starts fresh. Even at level 20, there's plenty to do. The beta is incredibly busy, and Blizzard has ditched traditional server realms for playstyle-based realms: PvE, PvP, and Roleplay. A Permadeath Hardcore mode is coming later. The result? You're never alone. From Auberdine to Stormwind, players are everywhere—buffing each other, questing together, and yes, still throwing out some good-natured trash talk.
One of the coolest new features is the camping system. It's a crafting-like activity where you place a campsite, and others can gather around the fire for special buffs. It's surprisingly heartwarming and adds to the community feel. I've even been resurrected by strangers a few times, just because they could. That kind of virtual kindness is rare, and it makes Azeroth feel alive again.
Questing has also seen major improvements. Starting zones and beyond have way more quests than before, and they link together better, guiding you to new areas and teaching valuable skills. For example, a quest in Darkshore gives you water breathing potions—something that used to feel like gold dust. You can also hold 40 quests in your log instead of the old 20, which is a subtle but beloved quality-of-life change.
Visually, the lighting and water effects are much improved, bringing vibrancy to the world. However, other graphical upgrades are more subtle—this isn't WoW 2.0. The only new zone in the beta is Zephras Isle, the Skyborne starting zone. It's pleasant and modern, though maybe a bit too vast for a starting area. The Skyborne themselves are best described as elven smurfs, but they fit right in.
Overall, World of Warcraft: Forever nails that tricky balance of nostalgia and fresh ideas. It revives the original spirit while feeling like a step forward. If you've been away for a while, this might be the homecoming you've been waiting for. Will you be diving back into Azeroth when Forever launches? Let us know in the comments!
