WoW Forever Adds Heartfelt Make-A-Wish Quest After 20 Years

Blizzard has added the Make-A-Wish quest 'Kyle's Gone Missing!' to WoW Forever, honoring Ezra Chatterton, the young fan who created it before losing his battle with cancer in 2008.
Remember how World of Warcraft: Forever is all about keeping things exactly as they were in 2004? Well, the community just convinced Blizzard to make one very special exception.
If you're not familiar, 'Kyle's Gone Missing!' was originally added during The Burning Crusade in 2007. It was a Make-A-Wish request from a young player named Ezra 'Ephoenix' Chatterton, who was battling brain cancer. Blizzard let him design the quest and voice its NPC, Ahab Wheathoof, who asks you to help find his lost dog. It's a genuinely adorable and heartwarming piece of WoW history.
Since WoW Forever only includes content from the original 2004 release, the quest had been missing from the new MMO. But players on Blizzard's forums kept asking for it to be added, and earlier this week a community manager hinted it was happening. Now it's official: principal game designer Johnny Cash confirmed on Twitter that Kyle's Gone Missing and Ahab Wheathoof are in the game.
"I had the honor and privilege of bringing 'Kyle's Gone Missing!' into WoW: Forever," Cash wrote. "Ezra Chatterton was an enormous WoW fan, the creator and voice actor behind Ahab Wheathoof, and the creator of Kyle. A tear was shed during this one, my friends. Rest in peace, Ezra."
Chatterton tragically lost his battle with cancer in 2008, but nearly two decades later, his memory lives on in the game he loved. If you want to experience the quest yourself, you'll find Ahab Wheathoof in Bloodhoof Village in Mulgore—the starting zone for Tauren players. You'll need to be at least level 5 to start it, and trust me, it's worth it.
It's gestures like this that remind you why MMOs are about more than just loot and levels. They're about the people behind the characters. So, will you be heading to Mulgore to help find Kyle? What do you think about Blizzard making this exception for WoW Forever?
