Witcher 3 Switch 2 Upgrade: Free Even for Physical Copies?

CD Projekt Red confirms that The Witcher 3 Remastered on Switch 2 is a free upgrade, even for physical owners. Here's what you need to know.

Thinking about picking up The Witcher 3 on Switch 2 but worried about the upgrade cost? CD Projekt Red has some good news for you.

If you already own a physical copy of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on the original Switch, you'll be able to upgrade to the Remastered version on Switch 2 for free. That's right, no strings attached. Even if your game is a physical cartridge, you're covered.

This clarification comes as pre-orders for the Switch 2 edition have started popping up. CD Projekt Red wanted to clear up any confusion about the upgrade path, especially for those who prefer physical media. So, if you've been holding onto your old Switch copy, you can breathe easy.

The Remastered version will feature enhanced graphics, improved performance, and all the post-launch DLCs. It's the definitive way to experience Geralt's epic journey on the go. And with the Switch 2's beefier hardware, the game is expected to run smoother and look sharper than ever.

But wait, there's a catch. The free upgrade is only available if you have the game on the same Nintendo account. So, make sure you're using the same account you originally purchased or registered the game with. If you're planning to switch accounts, you might miss out.

Also, note that the upgrade applies to the digital version too. If you have the digital copy on your original Switch, you'll get the Remastered version on Switch 2 at no extra cost. It's a great move from CD Projekt Red, showing they value their fans' loyalty.

So, will you be taking advantage of this free upgrade? Or are you planning to jump into The Witcher 3 for the first time on Switch 2? Let us know in the comments below!
