Witcher 3 Remaster Overhauls Skill Trees and More

CD Projekt Red reveals major changes for The Witcher 3 remaster, including skill tree overhauls, new quest markers, and a Bard's Ballad mode for accessibility.
Ready to dive back into The Witcher 3? The remaster drops tomorrow, and CD Projekt Red just spilled the beans on all the big changes you can expect. Beyond the obvious visual and audio upgrades, there are some deeper tweaks that'll affect how you play.
First up, skill trees have been completely reorganized. Each skill now has three ranks, and unlocking new skills requires having the necessary prerequisite skills instead of just spending points. If you're importing a save, your skill points will be reset, so be prepared to rebuild your character. Several skills have also been renamed to better reflect what they do, so take a moment to re-familiarize yourself with your build.
Quest markers on your world map have gotten a quality-of-life boost. Incomplete questlines now have their own marker, making it easier to decide what to tackle next. It's a small change that should save you a lot of menu time.
Meditation is getting a visual upgrade too. Instead of just opening a menu, you'll now see a neat time-lapse, which adds a nice touch of immersion during longer sessions.
Accessibility is a big focus with the new Bard's Ballad mode. It's designed to reduce cognitive load for players who experience mental fatigue or have difficulty concentrating. It simplifies certain mechanics and disables select features for a smoother, more focused adventure. Anything that makes a massive RPG like this more approachable is a win in my book.
Photo mode enthusiasts, you're in for a treat. There are loads more options for your camera work, including the ability to insert any character into the frame after you've picked your shot. Get ready to create some epic screenshots.
The update lands tomorrow, so keep an eye out. And once you've soaked in all the changes, you can start getting hyped for Songs of the Past, coming next year. Plus, the writer behind the game's most iconic questline is returning to CD Projekt Red after 10 years, just in time for The Witcher 4.
