Witcher 3 Redux Bug Turns Vesemir Into Homelander

A Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Redux player spotted Vesemir with glowing red eyes and 10 FPS โ turns out old mods are to blame, not the game itself.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Redux is finally out, and PC players are already digging up some truly cursed screenshots. One player recently shared an image where Vesemir's eyes had turned an alarmingly bright red, while the game's frame rate reportedly tanked to around 10 FPS. At first glance, plenty of folks assumed the Redux had some serious compatibility problems.
But it didn't take long for the player to figure out the real culprit: it wasn't entirely the game's fault. The issue traced back to mods installed for the original Witcher 3 โ things like character appearance tweaks, eye replacements, and texture packs. Since the Redux overhauled a ton of character models, materials, and rendering systems, any old mod that hasn't been updated to match can cause weird glitches, missing models, or even massive performance drops.
In other words, if you've got a folder full of legacy Witcher 3 mods lying around, you might want to do some spring cleaning before diving into the Redux. Otherwise, you could end up with a witcher who looks less like a seasoned monster hunter and more like a certain laser-eyed supe.
The comments section, naturally, wasted zero time turning the whole thing into a meme fest. Red-eyed laser jokes and Homelander reaction images flooded in, with one commenter declaring that when it comes to the red-eye laser department, Vesemir remains absolutely authoritative. Honestly, fair.
It's a good reminder that while mods can make an old favorite feel brand new, big updates like the Redux can break even the most beloved setups. If your game suddenly looks like a horror movie or runs like a slideshow, check your mod list first โ the Redux itself might be perfectly fine.
Have you run into any bizarre bugs in the Witcher 3 Redux yet? Or did your mods survive the update unscathed? Let us know in the comments!
