Warhammer YouTuber Quits After 10 Years Amid Takedowns and Threats

The Outer Circle's Macca is ending his decade-long Warhammer channel after Games Workshop 3D printing takedowns, death threats, doxxing attempts, and burnout.
Ever wonder what it costs to run a Warhammer YouTube channel for a decade? For one Australian creator, the answer turned out to be way too much.
The Outer Circle, run by a creator known as "Macca," has announced it's shutting down after more than 10 years of videos covering Games Workshop's Horus Heresy tabletop game. The channel built its audience on commentary, lore analysis, and getting-started guides โ but also on criticism of Games Workshop's pricing, rules, and corporate policies. That criticism, it seems, came with a price.
Things escalated in recent months when The Outer Circle received DMCA takedowns over 3D printing designs of miniatures sold on Cults 3D. The move sparked a wider debate about the legality of selling such designs and how closely they resembled Games Workshop's official miniatures. For Macca, though, it was the final straw. In a video simply titled "The End," he made his exit official.
"I'm arguing with idiots," he said. "And over the years I've been on YouTube, I've received death threats, I've received attempted doxxing, I've received all sorts of rude behavior. And to be honest I don't care." He explained that he'd spent years creating his own model lines to fill gaps in the product range, eventually making them free once he'd sold enough โ and that his complaints about Games Workshop stem from a moral issue, not a financial one.
Macca also pushed back on the idea that his operation was about money, insisting he charged less than others doing similar work. "I don't really need The Outer Circle, suffice to say," he continued. "So, I will end the channel. I don't even consider this a win for my haters or anyone. It's not a win. It's just neutrality." He added that he's been talking to Games Workshop's intellectual property staff "to see if we can come to some sort of understanding," but there's no sign the takedowns will be lifted.
This isn't an isolated incident. Throughout this year, multiple creators have reported takedowns as part of what some in the community see as a war on 3D printing by Games Workshop. The UK company has a long reputation for aggressive IP protection โ from going after video games that look like Warhammer 40,000 to claiming ownership of the phrase "Space Marines." The divide within the community is real: some fiercely defend Games Workshop's actions, while others side with Macca.
In a follow-up post on The Outer Circle's Patreon, Macca doubled down: "I have no want for money, it was always a moral question... I've received numerous death threats over the years, attempts at doxxing, and I have a family to worry about. I'm not actually threatened by sweaty nerds on the internet, but why go through needless stress?"
Games Workshop rarely comments on stories like this, so we probably won't hear their side. But for a creator who spent a decade building something for the Horus Heresy community, the ending is a sobering one. What do you think โ is this a sign of a bigger problem in the hobby, or just one creator stepping away? Let us know in the comments.
