Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Deathmaster Blends Stealth and Platforming Like a Grim Hollow Knight

We went hands-on with Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Deathmaster, a stealthy platformer that feels like Hollow Knight with Skaven. Here's our first impressions.
Ever wondered what it's like to skulk through the grimdark world of Warhammer Age of Sigmar as a sneaky Skaven assassin? Well, I just got a taste, and let me tell you, it's an absolute blast.
I had a maniacally delightful time with the very small slice of Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Deathmaster I got to chew on. The art style is gloomy and grimy while remaining very readable. It's the kind of world that feels like it's been rotting for centuries, but you can always tell exactly what's a ledge you can grab and what's a deadly drop.
The core loop mixes stealth game mainstays with Hollow Knight-style platforming, and honestly, it clicks together pretty seamlessly. You're not just running and jumping; you're carefully planning your approach, using shadows to your advantage, and then striking when the moment is right. It's a dance of patience and precision that keeps you on your toes.
Exploring and backstabbing my way through its sometimes tricky areas as I gradually gained access to new abilities kept things fresh. There's a real sense of progression as you unlock new moves that open up previously inaccessible paths. It's that classic Metroidvania hook, but with a healthy dose of skulduggery thrown in.
And seeing Age of Sigmar from a Skaven's beady little eyes makes it all seem new again. A bit moldy, maybe, but new. You're not a hulking Space Marine or a noble Stormcast; you're a rat-man who's all about survival and cunning. It's a fresh perspective that makes the familiar world feel unfamiliar and exciting.
If you're a fan of stealth games or platformers with a dark twist, this is one to keep on your radar. The blend of genres feels natural, and the atmosphere is thick enough to cut with a dagger. I can't wait to see more of what Deathmaster has in store.
Will you be sneaking through the shadows when this one drops? Let me know if you're as intrigued as I am!
