Warcraft 3: Reforged Gets First New Campaign in 20 Years

Blizzard announced Forsaken Kingdom, a new Warcraft 3 campaign exploring the Forsaken's origins, playable today. The free 3.0 update also drops.
Did you ever wonder how the Forsaken came to be? Well, Blizzard just dropped a bombshell at BlizzCon 2026: a brand-new Warcraft 3 campaign called Forsaken Kingdom is launching later today. That's right, the first new Warcraft RTS campaign in two decades is finally here.
Forsaken Kingdom dives into the last days of Lordaeron after it fell to Arthas, and shows how the city became the Undercity we all know from World of Warcraft. It's a story fans have wanted for years, and now you can play it in Warcraft 3: Reforged, Blizzard's remaster of the 2003 classic.
Now, the campaign isn't free—you'll have to shell out some cash for it. But the good news is that the 3.0 update for Warcraft 3: Reforged is completely free and also releases today. This update brings new visual improvements and quality-of-life features that should make the game feel smoother than ever.
This is just the latest effort by Blizzard to turn around Warcraft 3: Reforged's rocky reputation. The remaster launched in 2020 to a storm of criticism, and reports suggested it suffered from budget cuts and a troubled development. Blizzard even expanded its refund policy back then. But in 2024, the 2.0 update arrived as part of the franchise's 30th anniversary, addressing many player complaints. Now, with 3.0 and Forsaken Kingdom, it looks like Blizzard is serious about giving this game the love it deserves.
What's more, earlier this year Blizzard made it so you can access the classic version of Warcraft 3 through Battle.net without needing to launch Reforged. That's a nice nod to purists who prefer the original experience.
So, whether you're a longtime Warcraft fan or a newcomer curious about the Forsaken's dark origins, today is a big day. The campaign is playable later today, and the 3.0 update is free for everyone. Will you be diving back into Azeroth to see how it all began? Let us know in the comments!
