The Witcher 3 Remastered: Full List of Improvements Revealed

CD Projekt has detailed all the changes coming to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt โ Remastered, including visual upgrades, combat overhaul, and mod support. The free update launches September 29.
Ever wondered what it takes to make a masterpiece even better? CD Projekt just dropped the full list of improvements for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt โ Remastered, and it's a doozy.
The remaster launches tomorrow, September 29, as a free update on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. And according to CD Projekt, this is the first time they've introduced so many extensive changes at once. "These changes affect every aspect of the game, with particular attention to exploration and combat mechanics," they said. "Some features, such as the skill tree, have even been entirely rebuilt."
Visually, the Continent has never looked better. You'll see improved textures for environments, NPCs, and monsters, plus major enhancements to foliage and reworked lighting, rendering, and ray tracing. On PC, path tracing creates the most stunning version of the game yet. PS5 Pro owners get support for PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), enabling smooth 60 FPS with ray tracing on.
Combat is getting a major overhaul. The skill tree has been rebuilt from the ground up, offering new abilities and deeper flexibility. Animations are revamped, there are brutal new finishers, and an adaptive camera makes the action feel more dynamic. All five witcher signs โ Aard, Igni, Yrden, Quen, and Axii โ have been refreshed with new visual effects. Enemy behavior is also improved, making encounters with wolves and drowners feel more immersive.
Quality of life improvements abound. Geralt and Roach have new animations for more fluid movement. Witcher Senses have been reworked so clues are only revealed by focusing on the right elements. The UI is refreshed with a quicker main menu and clearer notifications. And transmog finally lets you change the look of your weapons and armor without sacrificing stats.
There's more: an expanded Photo Mode with new poses, frames, and filters; mod.io integration for cross-platform mod support; and Bard's Ballad, a new accessibility feature for players with cognitive limitations, which can automatically self-heal. On Nintendo Switch 2, you get motion controls to cast signs, fire crossbows, throw bombs, drink potions, and control Roach. Gyro aiming offers greater precision, and mouse mode gives another control option. The touchscreen can navigate menus and even play Gwent.
With so many changes, whether you're a veteran or a newcomer, this remaster looks set to deliver the definitive Witcher 3 experience. Will you be diving back into the Continent? Let us know in the comments!
