Switch 2 Emulator Lichii Gets Star Fox Running on PC at 30FPS

A new branch of the Eglantine Switch 2 emulator called Lichii has rendered Star Fox (2026) on PC for the first time, running at a stable 30fps on a Ryzen 5 9600X and RTX 3070.

Switch 2 emulation just took another step forward, and this time it's Star Fox leading the charge. According to DSOGaming, developer Zortos293 has released a new branch of the Eglantine emulator called Lichii, and it's the first time the Star Fox remake has actually rendered on PC instead of staring back at you with a black screen.

For anyone following emulator progress, the big deal here is simple: the game finally outputs a proper image. The report notes that the game's DLSS network is now handled by Lichii's own de-jittering solution, which cuts down the nasty ghosting and geometry stretching that plagued earlier attempts. The branch also adds support for the ULDC.U16 shader instruction, fixes a color-matching issue in MSVC builds, and gets controller input working through HID command 300.

As for how it actually looks in motion, YouTuber "petter005" shared a demo running on an AMD Ryzen 5 9600X paired with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070. The result? The game holds a steady 30 frames per second with no obvious graphical glitches. That's a pretty clean showing for a first working render.

And Star Fox isn't the only thing Lichii brings to the table. The branch packs a bunch of other improvements across video playback, emulation, and GPU performance. That includes an updated H.264 video system, DLSS support via NVIDIA Streamline, native support for the BRA.U instruction, and a merge of multiple fixes from the main Eglantine project.

It's worth keeping expectations in check, since emulator development moves in fits and starts, but getting a Switch 2 exclusive to render and run at a locked 30fps is no small feat. If you've been watching the Eglantine project from the sidelines, this is one branch worth keeping an eye on.

What do you think, are you impressed by how fast Switch 2 emulation is coming along, or are you waiting for something a little more polished? Let us know in the comments.
