Splitgate: Arena Reloaded's Servers Are Shutting Down—Again

1047 Games is ending active development on Splitgate: Arena Reloaded and Empulse, moving both to peer-to-peer play starting September 3. Here's what that means for players.
Remember when Splitgate made a big comeback as Splitgate: Arena Reloaded? Well, it's déjà vu all over again—the servers are going offline, and the game is heading to peer-to-peer life support. And this time, it's not alone.
On August 26, developer 1047 Games announced on X that active development for both Splitgate: Arena Reloaded and Empulse is ending immediately. The reason? Money. In a statement, the team said, "The reality is that neither game is generating enough revenue to support the ongoing cost of dedicated servers." They added, "We have continued covering the costs because we wanted to give both games every opportunity to grow, but we have reached the point where that is no longer sustainable."
But don't worry—they're not pulling the plug entirely. Starting September 3, dedicated servers for both games will go offline, and they'll be reworked to support peer-to-peer (P2P) play. That means you'll only find matches when other players are hosting games, just like the original Splitgate did back in August 2025. So, if you're hoping to jump into a quick match, you might have to rely on the community to keep things alive.
It's a real shame, especially for Splitgate: Arena Reloaded. This game had a lot going for it: Portal-like portals, Halo-style shooting, and Quake-level movement speed. It even added a 60-player battle royale mode and a map creator called the Lab. But now, those features will be stuck in time, with no new updates to keep things fresh.
As for Empulse, it's getting one final update that adds a new map and a cross-regional price cut. After that, what you see is what you get—no more surprises.
So, what does this mean for you? If you're still playing either game, you'll need to rely on the P2P server browser to find matches. It's a bit of a hassle, but at least the games aren't completely dead. And who knows? Maybe the community will keep them alive for a while longer.
Will you be sticking around for the P2P era of Splitgate: Arena Reloaded, or are you moving on to something else? Let us know in the comments!
