Splinter Cell Remake: Still Stealthy After 5 Years

Ubisoft is hiring for the Splinter Cell remake, confirming it's still in development after nearly five years of silence since its announcement.
Remember when Ubisoft announced a Splinter Cell remake? It's been almost five years, and we've seen zero gameplay or trailers. But don't count Sam Fisher out just yet โ the project is still alive.
According to job listings spotted by Insider Gaming, Ubisoft is actively recruiting for several roles on the remake, including level designer and producer. These openings have popped up in the last few months, signaling that the game is still in active development. Of course, hiring doesn't necessarily mean the game is close to launch โ people come and go all the time โ but it's a good sign nonetheless.
It's not the first time we've seen job listings for this project, but given Ubisoft's current volatile state, any sign of life is welcome. The company has been through a lot lately, so fans are right to be a little anxious.
What will this remake actually look like? That's the big question. The original Splinter Cell dropped in 2002, and a lot has changed since then โ both in geopolitics and in game design. Will it stick to pure stealth, or borrow action-heavy mechanics like Mark & Execute from later entries Conviction and Blacklist? Only time will tell.
Since Splinter Cell: Blacklist in 2013, we haven't gotten a new game in the series. Sam Fisher has kept busy with guest spots in Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six Siege, and there's even a Netflix animated series that debuted last year, with Liev Schreiber taking over voice duties from Michael Ironside.
So, the remake is still lurking in the shadows, but at least we know it's not dead. Will you be picking it up when it finally emerges? Let us know in the comments!
