s&box Characters Finally Get Necks After Fan Backlash

Garry Newman has added necks to s&box citizens after negative reviews consistently criticized their neckless design. Players can now adjust neck size with a slider.
Ever looked at a game character and thought, "Something's off... oh right, they have no neck"? Well, s&box players sure did, and now Garry Newman has finally given in.
The spiritual successor to Garry's Mod, s&box, has been in development at Facepunch Studios, and its citizens previously lacked necks entirely. That's right—no neck. Just a head sitting directly on shoulders. It was a bold look, but apparently not a popular one.
Newman took to the patch notes to announce the change: "I've updated the citizen. They now have a default non frowny face and they can have a neck." He also revealed that sliders let you tweak chest, waist, neck, and nose size, plus eye colour. So if you're a fan of the old neckless look, you can bring it back with a slider. "If you liked having no neck, you can bring that back with a slider," he confirmed.
But here's the thing: Newman actually loved the neckless design. "Let me be honest here. I love the citizen, I love how he looks, I love that he has no neck," he admitted. However, the feedback was brutal. "But the feedback we've consistently got is that people hate them. They hate everything about them." Ouch.
So why the change? Newman explained that the neck issue kept popping up in negative reviews. "Of course, this isn't what 'fixes' s&box on its own, but it something that comes up consistently in our many many many negative reviews, so it's something that we are addressing along with all the other feedback we receive." It's a small tweak, but it shows Facepunch is listening.
The update also gives citizens a default non-frowny face, which might make them look a little less grumpy. And with the new sliders, you can customize your character's body shape more than ever. Whether you want a thick neck, a thin neck, or no neck at all, the choice is yours.
This might seem like a minor change, but it's a big deal for a game that's still finding its footing. s&box is the spiritual successor to Garry's Mod, and Newman is clearly committed to refining it based on player feedback. So, will you be giving your citizen a neck? Or are you team no-neck all the way?
