RuneFest 2026: RuneScape 4, Reignited, and More!

Jagex announced RuneScape 4, RuneScape Reignited, an animated adaptation, and major updates for Old School RuneScape and Dragonwilds at RuneFest 2026.
Did you miss RuneFest 2026? Don't worry—we've got you covered with all the biggest announcements from Jagex's epic fan event. From a brand-new RuneScape game to a massive overhaul of the classic MMO, there's a ton to unpack.
The headline news? Jagex is working on a fourth RuneScape MMO, currently codenamed RuneScape 4. It's being built on Unreal Engine and aims to leverage the latest tech and design, so it's shaping up to be a true next-gen RuneScape experience. No release date yet, but the teaser trailer has fans buzzing.
But that's not all—Jagex also revealed a new RuneScape animated adaptation in partnership with YouTuber Charlie White (MoistCr1TiKaL) and production company Lyrical Media. Details are scarce, but it's officially happening.
Meanwhile, RuneScape itself is getting a major shot in the arm with RuneScape Reignited, launching December 2. Jagex calls it a "defining moment" for the 25-year-old game, designed to bring back lapsed players and excite current ones. You'll get a Remastered Journey and Adventure Guide, a fresh economy, and brand-new hi scores. Plus, from December 2-12, you can enjoy full Reignited Access without membership. The long-awaited Plugin API also launches this month, with early access available now.
Looking ahead, Jagex unveiled its biggest roadmap ever for 2027, featuring three story arcs tied to long-running storylines: Hoard of Dragons (January) continues the Dragon Slayer saga, City of Gnomes picks up the gnome storyline, and Secrets of Karamja introduces a new endgame raid. Also on the way: an Agility skill rework, new skilling and solo bosses, area expansions, and a new Grandmaster Quest.
Old School RuneScape fans, rejoice! The Golden Gates to Menaphos are finally opening after 20 years, along with a slew of fan-demanded content. The Fractured Archive, a new endgame raid, launches October 20, and Hardcore Worlds arrives November 4. Next year brings the continuation of the Fairytale questline, Quest month, Dungeons of Gielinor, a Mining and Smithing rework, Chosen Commander, and the Tower of Xorphoros.
Finally, RuneScape: Dragonwilds got some love with the announcement of the Blood Crystal Saga and updated 2027 plans. The Luminance update, a prelude to the saga, launches this December and introduces Elves, elven-themed customisation, and the Prayer skill. The Blood Crystal Saga kicks off in 2027 with Song of Rebellion, featuring new enemies, the Hunter skill, new areas, quests, gear, and Prifddinas-inspired house decorations. Expect quarterly updates with new skills like Hunter and Slayer, plus monthly side quests, weapons, and quality-of-life improvements. And in 2027, official modding arrives via a partnership with CurseForge, complete with creation tools and an in-game mod browser across all platforms.
That's a massive amount of content coming to the RuneScape universe. Which announcement has you most hyped? Let us know in the comments!
