RollerCoaster Tycoon Wonderworks Announced with Bubsy Cameo

Atari reveals RollerCoaster Tycoon Wonderworks at Gamescom, featuring Bubsy and a toy-like art style, launching in Early Access soon.
Remember the thrill of building your first coaster, only to have your guests complain about the nausea? Well, get ready to relive that chaos because RollerCoaster Tycoon is back. Atari just dropped a new entry in the beloved series during Gamescom's Opening Night Live pre-show, and it's got a surprising guest star: Bubsy the Bobcat.
Titled RollerCoaster Tycoon Wonderworks, the game is being developed by Springloaded, the studio behind Let's Build a Zoo. Atari has been keeping the RCT flame alive since the Infogrames days, but let's be honest—it's been a while since we got a truly beloved entry. Wonderworks aims to change that by bringing the community into the development process through Steam Early Access.
"Early Access offers an opportunity for us to involve this passionate community directly in our development process, helping to sculpt the next great RCT," the FAQ on the game's Steam page reads. "We want to hear from you! What works? What's missing? What do you want to see in your ideal RCT?" They've got a roadmap with new parks, rides, and features (including water) planned, but they're leaving room for your feedback to shape the game.
The reveal trailer shows off a toy-inspired art style that gives the game a fresh, playful look while keeping that classic RCT gameplay you know and love. And yes, that's Bubsy wandering through the park, much to the dismay of pre-show host Kyle Bosman. It seems Atari is digging into its retro IP vault, and Bubsy's appearance is just the beginning of his grand return—remember Bubsy 4D? This might be even weirder.
RollerCoaster Tycoon Wonderworks is set to launch in Steam Early Access soon, with Atari planning to keep it there for about a year. The full 1.0 release will include six parks and a "classic" builder mode that won't be available at the initial Early Access launch. So, you'll get to see the game evolve over time, with your input helping to steer the ship.
Will you be diving into Early Access to help shape this new RCT? Or are you waiting for the full release? Let us know in the comments below!
