Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition Switch 2 vs Steam Deck Frame Rate Showdown

A new comparison video pits the Switch 2 version of Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition against Steam Deck, with the Nintendo hardware posting higher frame rate readings in combat.
Capcom's Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition hit Switch 2 as a digital release on October 16, and it didn't come alone — Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition and Resident Evil 3 launched the same day. Naturally, the tech-comparison folks over at ElAnalistaDeBits wasted no time putting together a roughly 10-minute video comparing the Switch 2 version against Steam Deck.
The frame rate test is where things get interesting. In combat scenes, the Switch 2's frame rate counter showed readings of 47.0 and 49.0, with a frame time curve that stayed pretty stable overall. On the Steam Deck side, the in-game overlay bounced around between 34 and 39 fps. Frame generation time on the Deck dipped as low as about 23.4ms but spiked to 58.2ms at one point, and GPU usage sat around 90 percent for long stretches.
This isn't the channel's first rodeo with this particular game, either. ElAnalistaDeBits previously published a visual comparison between the Switch 2 version of Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition and the PS5 version, so they've been keeping a close eye on how this port stacks up across hardware.
Spanish outlet Nintenderos reports that with all three Resident Evil titles arriving on Switch 2 on October 16, details on hands-on impressions, download sizes, and pricing have also been rolling out.
It's worth keeping expectations in check — these are early comparison numbers from a single channel, and performance can vary depending on the scene and settings. Still, seeing the Switch 2 hold its own against Steam Deck in a demanding action sequence is a promising sign for the port.
So what do you think — are you picking up Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition on Switch 2, or sticking with Steam Deck? Let us know in the comments!
