PlayStation's Real Wolverine Claws Are Here to Slice Your Groceries

PlayStation hired Fiedlero Knives to craft custom Wolverine-inspired claws for the game's launch. They're not for sale, but they slice produce just fine.
Ever dreamed of popping a set of adamantium claws while you're just trying to make a sandwich? Well, PlayStation just made that a terrifying reality. To celebrate the launch of Marvel's Wolverine, they hired blacksmiths at Fiedlero Knives to forge a custom set of Wolverine-inspired claws, and the result is every bit as lethal as you'd hope.
These aren't made of indestructible adamantium, but they still made short work of some fresh produce in a test. The claws are attached to a handle, just like the practical props Hugh Jackman used, so they look like they're really coming out of your hands. And the best part? You don't need a mutant healing factor to wield them—though it's probably advisable in case you trip.
PlayStation showed off the claws on Twitter, and unsurprisingly, they look downright nasty. Of course, you can't actually buy this custom set. But if you're desperate for a replica, plenty of knock-offs exist online, including plastic versions that are slightly safer than the metal ones. For something more official, Hot Toys has a sixth-scale Wolverine figure that comes with several sets of smaller claws and impressively accurate body hair on his silicone arms.
Meanwhile, Marvel's Wolverine itself launched earlier this month to a lukewarm reception. Critics have slammed its restrictive level design, excessive hand-holding, and repetitive combat. GameSpot's Tamoor Hussain called it "a fun but forgettable experience" and noted that making great superhero games with one character doesn't mean you can do it with any character.
Developer Insomniac Games is trying to address the complaints. A new patch recently went live, toning down the intrusive scent trails and audio cues that lead you to collectibles. It's a step in the right direction, but the question remains whether it's enough to sharpen the overall experience.
So, what do you think? Would you risk your fingers for a set of real Wolverine claws, or are you sticking to the plastic ones? Let us know in the comments!
