PlatinumGames CEO Teases Bayonetta's Future on Switch 2

PlatinumGames CEO Atsushi Inaba says he wants to expand Bayonetta as a character and her world, hinting at possible Switch 2 plans.
Bayonetta fans, you might want to sit down for this one. PlatinumGames CEO Atsushi Inaba just dropped some intriguing hints about the future of everyone's favorite Umbra Witch, and it sounds like the studio isn't done with her yet.
In a recent conversation with ShiftUp CEO Kim Hyung-tae, Inaba touched on both the Nintendo Switch 2 and where the Bayonetta series might be heading next. The timing is interesting, since the two companies just announced a collaboration that will bring special Bayonetta costumes to the Switch 2 version of Stellar Blade, which launches in November.
When asked about the challenges of porting games across platforms and optimizing for both docked and handheld modes, Inaba didn't sugarcoat it. He admitted the task isn't easy. He also noted that PlatinumGames doesn't currently have any titles on the Switch 2, but he believes the new hardware has serious potential and can significantly broaden how players enjoy games.
Then the conversation turned to Bayonetta, and that's where things got juicy. Inaba didn't reveal any concrete plans, but he made his feelings pretty clear. He said he strongly wants to expand the character and broaden her world, and he asked fans to wait and see how it all takes shape. When pressed about a next installment, he just laughed and said he had no comment. Classic.
The Bayonetta series was created by Hideki Kamiya, who left PlatinumGames at the end of 2023. Since then, the studio has stayed quiet about the franchise's future. Inaba's comments suggest PlatinumGames still intends to keep the Bayonetta IP alive, and a future Switch 2 release isn't off the table.
Beyond the Stellar Blade crossover, Bayonetta's next scheduled appearance will be in additional content for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. So she's not going anywhere anytime soon.
What do you think? Are you hoping for a new Bayonetta game on Switch 2, or would you rather see PlatinumGames try something completely fresh? Let us know in the comments.
