New Assassin's Creed HEXE Leak Shows Female Protagonist, But It's Blurry
A blurry leaked screenshot reportedly from Assassin's Creed Codename HEXE shows the game's female protagonist Anika and some UI elements, but authenticity remains unconfirmed.
Another day, another Assassin's Creed leak. This time it's Codename HEXE, the mysterious witch-themed entry in Ubisoft's long-running series, and a freshly surfaced screenshot is giving us our first supposed glimpse at the game's heroine.
The image was shared by well-known leaker xJ0nathan on Instagram, according to Xboxygen. Quality-wise? Let's just say it's rough. The screenshot is extremely blurry, but the leaker claims it shows the female protagonist, named Anika. Some eagle-eyed fans also noticed that the interface design looks similar to what we've seen in Assassin's Creed Shadows and the Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag remake. That said, the picture is so low-res that confirming character details or final UI styling is basically impossible right now.
If the name Anika sounds familiar, there's a reason. Previous casting documents that circulated online mentioned a female character called Anika or Petra. According to those rumors, she may live in a European setting gripped by religious persecution and witch hunts, where she's pursued after being accused of witchcraft and ends up clashing with a mysterious organization called the Order of the Lamb. Sounds appropriately witchy, right? Just keep in mind none of these character details or story beats have been confirmed by Ubisoft.
And here's the thing you should probably keep in mind before getting too excited: this same leaker has previously posted modified images of Assassin's Creed Invictus. So the authenticity of this new screenshot is already being questioned by parts of the community. Grain of salt recommended.
Codename HEXE has stayed under wraps for a while now, so any crumb of information tends to send the fanbase into a frenzy. Whether this particular crumb turns out to be real or another doctored image, it's clear people are hungry for anything about this one.
We'll keep an eye on this and update you if anything more solid surfaces. In the meantime, what do you think? Does a witch-hunt-era Assassin's Creed sound like your kind of game, or are you waiting for official footage before getting hyped? Drop your thoughts below!
