Neil Druckmann Teases Two New The Last of Us Projects

Naughty Dog has two The Last of Us projects in very early development, and Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will finally get a full reveal in 2027.

Well, this is one way to close out The Last of Us Day. Naughty Dog president Neil Druckmann has dropped a lengthy message thanking fans for years of support, and buried inside it is some genuinely big news: the studio has two new The Last of Us projects in the works.

Before you get too excited, temper those expectations. Druckmann says both projects are in very early development. The team has apparently been going back and forth on whether to keep telling stories in this world, and now there's an actual plan. He can't say what either one is yet, but he did confirm both will expand the world of The Last of Us beyond what we saw in The Last of Us Part I and Part II.

That said, Druckmann was clear that Naughty Dog won't force a story just to keep the franchise rolling. The studio treasures this world, and it'll only return when there's something genuinely worth saying. It's the kind of talk that should reassure anyone worried about the series being milked.

He also addressed the long wait for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. According to Druckmann, the game is in full production and has quietly become one of the most ambitious projects Naughty Dog has ever taken on. The team wants to polish it until it's truly ready, which is why there won't be any more reveals this year.

So here's the timeline, straight from Druckmann: expect silence for the rest of 2026. Then 2027 rolls around and everything changes. That's when Naughty Dog will fully unveil Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and show off the sci-fi adventure starring its protagonist, Jordan.

He wrapped up by thanking fans for their patience, saying the team is working hard on something worth the wait. As for the two The Last of Us projects and the actual details on Intergalactic, we'll have to sit tight for official word down the line.

So what are you hoping those two The Last of Us projects turn out to be? Another Ellie and Abby chapter, or something completely fresh in that world? Let us know what you think.
