Mortal Shell 2 Gold Coins: How the Economy Changed After Balance Patch 1

A clear breakdown of Mortal Shell 2's Gold Coin changes, enemy drop buffs, Mammon rewards, Shell maps, and cheaper TarForge smelting.

Mortal Shell 2's Gold economy was adjusted almost immediately after launch. That is why early guides and gold-glitch videos may give players an outdated picture of how much money normal combat produces.

## Enemy drops increased

Balance Patch 1 significantly increased Gold Coin drops from enemies. The patch notes specifically called out the second area, where rewards were raised to better match the materials available there. Enemies in the Mammon dungeon also received a doubled Gold payout.

## What this means for farming

The value of a farming loop is now based on speed, safety, and reset distance. Players do not need to search only for a single broken chest or a rare exploit. A short enemy route near a Beacon can generate a dependable income, especially with a Gold-boosting Tarstone equipped.

## Shell maps moved from Glimpses to Gloom

The patch changed the resource used to find Shell maps from Glimpses to Gloom and refunded Glimpses previously spent on those maps. This matters for budgeting because Glimpses no longer need to be treated as the cost of revealing every Shell location.

## TarForge smelting became cheaper

The update also reduced the Gloom cost of smelting weapons at the TarForge by 75 percent. Although this is not a direct Gold Coin change, it frees resources that can be redirected toward exploration, upgrades, and merchant purchases.

## Should you still chase a gold glitch?

Not as your main plan. A patched economy can make a previously attractive exploit unnecessary, and repeated glitch attempts may put a save at risk. Use the current drop rates, Beacon resets, Gorf's Marsh Pearls, and Proxima specimens instead.

The main lesson is simple: always date a farming guide. Mortal Shell 2 is still receiving fixes, so the current client and current patch notes matter more than launch-week numbers.
