Moon Studios CEO Blasts Sony: 'Yes to Concord, No to Kojima'

Thomas Mahler calls Kojima's move to Xbox a 'huge win' and questions Sony's decision-making, saying he doesn't understand who's calling the shots.

Thomas Mahler is not happy with Sony, and he's not being quiet about it. The CEO of Moon Studios, the team behind the Ori series, took to social media to sound off on Hideo Kojima's new game Physint jumping from PlayStation to Xbox — and he did not hold back.

"This is a huge win for Xbox, well done!" Mahler wrote. "Whether you like Kojima or not, the fact is his track record is unbelievable. Starting with Snatcher, all of his games have been loved by players. What are the chances he now puts out a complete dud? Considering he's kept a 30-year streak of continuous success, that probability is incredibly low."

Then he turned his sights on Sony's decision-makers. "I really don't understand who's making these decisions at Sony — saying 'yes' to Concord, saying 'no' to Kojima, and Kojima is one of the producers who built the games that defined PlayStation."

His comments echo a wider conversation that's been bubbling up in player communities lately about how Sony has been handling its business.

Here's the backstory: Physint, the game Kojima was working on with PlayStation, was suddenly cancelled by Sony back in June. Kojima himself called the decision "unexpected," and the project then shifted over to Xbox.

For a producer who gave us Death Stranding and the Metal Gear series, Kojima's move is being seen across the industry as a major step for Xbox when it comes to content strategy.
