Modder Taunts Rockstar, Gets Cease and Desist, Cancels GTA 5 Switch Port

A modder known as Mojso taunted Rockstar over an unofficial GTA 5 Switch port, then received a cease and desist from Take-Two, leading to the project's cancellation.
Ever thought you could poke the bear and get away with it? A modder just found out the hard way that Rockstar Games and its parent company Take-Two Interactive don't play around when it comes to their intellectual property.
The modder, known as Mojso, was working on porting GTA 5 and GTA Online to Nintendo Switch for modded consoles. After Rockstar recently posted guidelines for modding that forbid unofficial ports, Mojso decided to taunt the company, posting: "Try me Rockstar, [I don't give a f**k.]" That bold move didn't go unnoticed.
Just three days later, Mojso's Discord server was taken down for copyright infringement. But instead of backing off, the modder seemed unfazed. When warned about Rockstar and Take-Two's litigious reputation, Mojso shrugged it off, saying, "Copyright infringement is anything but enforced in Serbia." Less than a week after that, reality hit: Mojso confirmed receiving a cease and desist from Take-Two Interactive and thanked the company for its "mercy."
The port is now dead in the water. Mojso stated they don't want to risk any legal issues, and announced that Paralympics Productions is shutting down on October 3rd. In a message, they wrote: "Thank you everyone who supported us through tough times and lengthy development. I am sorry for not fulfilling your expectations and leaving you high and dry. I am thankful for Take-Two's mercy so this is the definitive end."
When people reminded Mojso of the taunt, the modder admitted they didn't expect Rockstar to actually respond. "They tried me," Mojso said. "[What the] f**k [do] you want me to do? Fight with them in court? I wasn't expecting them to hit back hard." It turns out the port was built using leaked GTA 5 source code, which has already caused a slew of other leaks and issues.
So, what's the takeaway? Maybe don't taunt massive corporations that are known for hunting down anyone who messes with their IP. It's a lesson Mojso learned the hard way, and now the GTA 5 Switch port will never see the light of day.
What do you think? Was Mojso asking for trouble, or did Rockstar overreact? Let us know in the comments!
