Mistborn RPG Expansion Up for Preorder: What You Need to Know

The Mistborn expansion for the Cosmere RPG is now available for preorder on Amazon, with a November 4 release date. Get the Handbook, Campaign Guide, and Welcome to Scadriel guide.
Ready to burn some metals and dive into the Mistborn RPG? If you're a fan of Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere, you'll want to hear this. The highly anticipated Mistborn expansion for the Cosmere RPG is officially up for preorder on Amazon, with a release date set for November 4.
The expansion includes three key books: the Mistborn Handbook, the Campaign Guide, and the Welcome to Scadriel guide. The Mistborn Handbook is your go-to for building characters in either era of Mistborn, plus it offers general guidance for GMs crafting campaigns in Scadriel. Since it's a Mistborn game, you'll also get a deep focus on the metallic arts of allomancy and feruchemy—something you wouldn't get from the Stormlight characters.
But the handbook alone won't cut it. You'll also need the Campaign Guide to fully immerse your characters in a setting that feels true to the books. It lets you play through two different eras, with consequences that 'echo across the centuries.' Era 1 campaigns are designed for levels 3-6, while Era 2 is built for levels 3-9. So whether you're a fan of the original trilogy or the later steampunk-flavored era, there's a path for you.
If you're new to the world of Scadriel or want a gentle introduction, the 24-page Welcome to Scadriel guide is perfect. It's a visual guide aimed at beginners and new players, giving you a crash course on what to expect before you start playing. It's especially handy for introducing friends who haven't read any of Sanderson's Cosmere books yet.
The Cosmere RPG itself launched last year after a very successful crowdfunding campaign, and the initial Stormlight Archive offerings impressed us. In our review, we gave them an 8 out of 10, praising the system's flexible character development and strong narrative mechanics. As Scott White put it, 'The Cosmere RPG's initial offerings on Roshar are a strong first go for this new TTRPG system.'
This isn't Sanderson's first foray into Mistborn tabletop games, though. Back in 2012, Crafty Games released the Mistborn Adventure Game, a tabletop adventure set in Era 1. It had expansions, but it's largely been forgotten since Brotherwise Games took over the Cosmere RPG. More recently, Brotherwise also released a Mistborn Deckbuilding game that we quite enjoyed—we gave it an 8 out of 10 and called it a 'refreshing offering among its deckbuilding peers.'
So, whether you're a longtime Mistborn fan or a TTRPG enthusiast looking for your next campaign, this expansion has a lot to offer. The preorder is live now, so you can secure your copies before the November 4 release. Will you be picking up the Mistborn expansion for the Cosmere RPG? Let us know in the comments!
