Love and Deepspace Warns Fans After Poisonous Cocktail Recipes Go Viral

Love and Deepspace devs issued a safety warning after sharing fictional cocktail recipes that included real poisonous plants, sparking fan concern and calls to delete the post.
Did you catch the Love and Deepspace cocktail recipes that went viral? They looked stunning, but some contained actual poisonous plants—and now the devs are telling everyone to back away slowly.
On September 28, the official Love and Deepspace social media account revealed five 'Shimmering Blend' cocktail recipes as part of an in-game event. Each drink was themed around one of the game's dashing romanceable characters. Pretty, right? Well, don't start mixing. Some of these recipes include garnishes that are straight-up toxic to humans.
Take the pomegranate juice cocktail—it's garnished with cinnamon and datura. Datura is a highly poisonous plant and is considered psychoactive. If consumed, it can cause delirium, fever, tachycardia, and hallucinations. Sounds like a nightmare, not a date night.
Then there's the sweet peach juice drink, which comes with a flame lily garnish and gelatin sheets. Flame lilies are also dangerous—all parts of the plant contain colchicine, a chemical used medicinally but potentially lethal. Symptoms include fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and even hypovolemic shock, which leads to loss of lethal amounts of blood and bodily fluids.
It didn't take long for concerned fans to spot the danger. Replies flooded in with calls for the account to delete the post. "Delete this. This is literal poison. Nobody make this," one wrote. Another said, "Hey, so some of these flowers are literally poisonous. Be careful. This is so reckless to post this." A third warned, "Don't try to recreate these drinks, they contain toxic plants!" And one simply couldn't believe it: "I can't believe this is posted as 'recipes.'"
Not long after, the LaDS account added a follow-up post with a safety notice: "All drinks shown are fictional and for in-game purposes only. Do not attempt to recreate or consume them in reality." That's a relief, but the damage was done—fans are still shaken.
Meanwhile, the LaDS social media accounts continue to be flooded with photos of canceled love interest Valko, who was announced and subsequently canned before he was even released. The playerbase has been impressively vocal, creating shrines to the character and even gathering outside the developer's physical offices to make their voices heard. It's been a wild week for Love and Deepspace fans, between poison warnings and protests.
What do you think about the cocktail controversy? Will you be sticking to in-game drinks only? Let us know in the comments!
