Kojima: Sony Never Explained PHYSINT Funding Pull, Never Contacted Me Again

Hideo Kojima has finally opened up about what happened after Sony stopped funding PHYSINT — and it sounds like he's still in the dark.

In a new interview with IGN, Kojima spoke for the first time about how things went down after Sony pulled its financial support for the project. According to him, Sony officially informed him they were ending the partnership during a meeting in June. After that? Total silence. No follow-up, no explanation, nothing.

When IGN pressed him on whether Sony ever clarified why they walked away from PHYSINT, Kojima didn't mince words. "No, not at all. Since then, they haven't contacted me again," he said.

But here's the thing — Kojima isn't out here throwing shade or picking a fight. He made it clear there's no bad blood, no feud, no dramatic falling-out. His only real gripe is timing. After 30 years of working together, he feels he deserved a heads-up earlier rather than getting the final word dropped on him in June out of nowhere. He also stressed that he's not holding a grudge. Kojima pointed out that he's always been a loyal Sony customer — he's been using Walkman players for years, and all his cameras are Sony too. "So I don't have any bad feelings toward them," he added.
