GTA 6 PS5 Controller Scalped for Double Price as Pre-Orders Sell Out

Scalpers are flipping the GTA 6-themed DualSense controllers for up to $185 after pre-orders vanished in minutes, forcing Sony to limit purchases to one per order.
Well, that didn't take long. Sony opened pre-orders for its two GTA 6-themed DualSense controllers on September 10, and scalpers were already circling before the dust settled.
Both the black and white versions carry an official price tag of $84.99, and they're set to launch alongside GTA 6 on November 19. Sounds reasonable, right? Too bad eBay had other plans. Listings for the black controller have already popped up at $185 — more than double the retail price — and some of those aren't even in-hand yet. Yep, people are flipping pre-order confirmations.
The demand was absolutely brutal. PlayStation Direct quickly hit virtual queue territory, with users reporting error messages while trying to check out. Over on the retail side, things were even wilder. According to God is a Geek, Best Buy sold out of the white controller in just minutes, while UK retailer Argos and Ireland's Smyths ran dry shortly after going live.
Sony has responded by slapping a purchase limit on the chaos. The official sales page now states that, due to overwhelming demand, the black controller is restricted to one per order. The white version is also being sold in limited quantities through PlayStation Direct and select retailers, while the black one is mainly a PlayStation Direct exclusive, with only certain regions getting it through specific shops.
Feature-wise, these are standard DualSense controllers under the hood — haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, the works. The real draw is the design: Vice City vibes, a shimmering color-shifting finish, and a molded palm tree pattern paired with the official GTA 6 logo. Honestly, it's the kind of thing that looks way too good sitting on your shelf.
But if you actually want one to play with, good luck. Between the queue nightmares, instant sellouts, and scalpers asking for nearly two hundred bucks, landing one at retail price is going to take some serious persistence. Keep an eye on restocks, set those notifications, and maybe don't feed the resellers if you can help it.
Did you manage to snag one of these controllers, or did the queue beat you? Let us know in the comments.
