GTA 6 Online Faces Tough Battle Against GTA Online, Says Valve Vet

"What are they going to do? That's a mess," Faliszek said. He referenced past industry examples where companies either forced a total replacement or tried to win players over—and failed. Rockstar and Take-Two are stuck between a rock and a hard place. They want you to move to the new GTA Online, but forcing a fresh start could backfire.

There's also the fear that GTA Online updates will slow down as Rockstar shifts focus to GTA 6. That could be a slow death for the current game, but leaving it to thrive might split the player base. Rockstar could run both games side by side, but that's easier said than done. No matter what they choose, someone's going to be unhappy.

On the bright side, GTA 6 is making some cool changes—fishing and hunting are getting a radical overhaul, and car theft is getting a fresh twist. There's even a warning about too much crime. But the multiplayer question looms large.
