GTA 6 Leaks: The Full Timeline of Chaos So Far

From a mysterious hacker group to gameplay reveals and a memecoin, here's everything that's happened in the GTA 6 leaks, in order.
Have you been keeping up with the GTA 6 leak chaos? It's been a wild ride, with a mysterious group called CyberLeek dropping bombshell after bombshell. If you're feeling lost, don't worry โ we've got the full timeline of events so far, from the first leaked clip to the latest threats.
It all started around mid-August 2026, when an anonymous individual or group calling itself CyberLeek began publishing unreleased GTA 6 material. The first wave included gameplay videos and apparent images of the game's map. Reddit users quickly noticed that the CyberLeek domain and backup spelling variants were registered as early as August 14, and a $CYBERLEEK token, liquidity pool, website, and voting program were created around August 15.
On August 18, the first clip surfaced: about a minute of protagonist Jason Duval playing basketball outside his oceanside house, which we've seen in official marketing. The clip showed a Focus mechanic that increases when you make a basket โ though it's unclear if this applies to all gameplay or just minigames. Rockstar's DMCA takedowns soon confirmed the footage was real. Alongside this, CyberLeek posted a manifesto with 'commandments' like 'Thou Shalt Not Sell Digital Preorders' and 'Thou Shalt Preserve Single-Player Content,' clearly targeting digital game sales policies.
That same day, a second clip titled 'Random Video 1' showed Jason driving and getting into a road confrontation, with a wrench used as a weapon. Then came images of the entire map, which fans found lined up with years of reconstructed info from official materials. On August 19, a third video showed Jason breaking into a facility and using a taser โ a potential new weapon. It also featured a track by Tate McRae released in January 2025, suggesting the build is from that year or later. The clip showed vehicle health and fuel bars, and even Jason and a friend drinking beers on a boat while laughing about using a VPN.
A fourth video, titled 'Junkies,' showed Jason kicking a cop off a motorcycle, stabbing him, and driving away. It hinted at a six-star wanted level โ something GTA 5 didn't have โ and showed a 'Zombix' drug that weakens your health with repeated use. Bystanders could also report your crimes. Meanwhile, the campaign group Stop Killing Games distanced itself from CyberLeek, stating, 'Using illegal means to make a point is unacceptable to us,' and urged people not to buy the memecoin.
CyberLeek's $CYBERLEEK token is watermarked on all footage, and its value depends on internet speculation. CyberLeek said the token would fund a 'secret project' and started polls where users could vote on which footage to release next by purchasing tokens. The first poll's winner was a plane video, which dropped on August 20. That extended gameplay showed Jason flying over the city, revealing new locations, radio stations, and a moment where the character apparently spelled 'Leek' with gunfire โ leading some to think the leaker has a playable build.
Finally, CyberLeek threatened to release story and ending spoilers unless Rockstar and other publishers change their approach to digital games. With the situation still unfolding, it's anyone's guess what comes next. Will Rockstar manage to contain this, or will CyberLeek follow through on their threats? What do you think of the leaks so far โ are you excited for GTA 6, or worried about the spoilers?
