GTA 6: How Jason and Lucia's Looks Have Changed Since 2023

Rockstar's GTA 6 protagonists have evolved visually since the 2023 reveal, with improved textures, hair, and skin detail. The game launches November 19.
Remember when GTA 6's first trailer dropped in 2023 and we all lost our minds? Well, the game is finally out next month, and Rockstar has been busy polishing its two leads, Jason and Lucia. If you thought they looked good before, wait until you see them now.
In the 2023 trailer, Lucia's skin looked a bit flat and less textured, and her hair didn't move much—just a slight bounce in her ponytail. Jason, meanwhile, only got a few seconds of screen time and looked like a pretty generic shaved-head guy with stubble. Not exactly the detailed characters we're seeing today.
Fast forward to Trailer 2, and the leap is insane. Lucia rocks wavy hair and a golden dress, while Jason's brown hair flows out from under his hat. His skin glistens with sweat from the Vice City heat, veins pop on his arms, and his facial hair is slightly uneven—little imperfections that make him feel real. The lighting bounces off their skin more naturally, too. It's not just about looks; it hints at the customization we'll get.
The recent extended look didn't show as big a jump as between trailers 1 and 2, but it's still miles ahead of the initial reveal. There are infinitely more customization options, and Jason and Lucia look fully polished. Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson explained that trailer 1 was a "mission statement" for the team—a north star when the game wasn't fully formed. So it makes sense that everything has only improved.
Now, GTA 6 is just weeks away. The ESRB rated it M for Mature this morning, and Rockstar is ramping up marketing with physical ads in Miami and New York. After years of waiting, the game hits shelves on November 19.
What do you think of Jason and Lucia's glow-up? Will you be picking up GTA 6 on day one?
