GTA 5 Gets Zombie Infection Mod Just in Time for Halloween

A new ZombieInfection mod turns GTA 5's Los Santos into a shambling horde, spreading undead chaos through the city's pedestrians. Even Franklin isn't safe.
Ever wondered what Los Santos would look like if the dead rose from their graves? One modder has answered that question, and the answer is: messy.
In a continuing quest to mod Grand Theft Auto 5 every single day—either turning it into a makeshift PC version of GTA 6 or breaking it beyond repair—the latest addition is the ZombieInfection mod. It does exactly what the name suggests: it adds zombies, and it adds infection.
Here's how it works. In any populated area of Los Santos, you'll start noticing that some pedestrians look a little worse for wear—bloodier, shambling, and generally more undead than your average city dweller. These are the ones who've been rejected by the grave. And they're not just there for atmosphere.
Whenever one of these undead pedestrians brushes up against a regular citizen, that citizen converts instantly to the horde. What starts as two or three bloodied weirdos quickly snowballs into a full-blown city-threatening catastrophe. It's horrifying, sure, but it's also a pretty solid demonstration of exponential growth in action.
Fortunately, zombies in GTA 5 are just as vulnerable to the city's many ambient threats as anyone else. Tornadoes, cars, fire—they're all fair game. They're also rather slow, which means they often get taken out by Los Santos' countless everyday dangers before they can do any real damage. A lesson for mayors everywhere, perhaps.
But here's the twist that makes this mod genuinely scary: even Franklin, who has been invincible in this particular GTA 5 install—surviving tornadoes, being used as a ramp by cars, you name it—isn't safe. Let a zombie brush up against him for long enough, and he'll succumb to the afterworld like any other mortal. The curse of undeath is apparently strong enough to break even his aura of immortality.
So if you're looking for a way to make Los Santos feel a little more October-appropriate, this mod certainly delivers. Just don't expect to survive it for long.
What do you think—would you install ZombieInfection in your own GTA 5? Or is Los Santos chaotic enough already?
