Grand Blue: How to Unlock Novice Swordsman Fast

Learn how to find Shiro and unlock the Novice Swordsman fighting style in Grand Blue for just 250 Gold, no quests needed.
Looking to get a solid fighting style early in Grand Blue without jumping through hoops? Novice Swordsman is your best bet—it's easy to grab, and you don't even need to leave the starting area. Here's how to unlock it.
First, you need to find Shiro, the Novice Swordsman trainer. He's hanging out near the Anchor Town Pond. The easiest way to get there is to start at the Captain's Brat enemy spawn, then look for Penniless Pete nearby. Once you spot Penniless Pete, follow the road to his left and go behind the wall. After passing the wall, you'll see the pond area, and Shiro will be on the opposite side, sporting the Fighting Style trainer quest marker above his head.
Once you've found Shiro, just talk to him and choose the option to learn Novice Swordsman. It'll cost you 250 Gold—that's it. No quests, no extra steps. After paying, the style is yours, and it'll automatically equip, replacing your previous fighting style.
But wait, there's a catch: to actually use the style, you need to have a Sword, Katana, or Dagger equipped. You can grab those from weapon merchants in towns if you don't have one already.
Also, while the base style is unlocked instantly, you'll need to complete all of Shiro's quests to unlock the full move set and passives for Novice Swordsman. So, if you want to make the most of it, be prepared to do some legwork later.
If you ever want to switch back to another style, head to the Wardrobe at Anchor Town Plaza. It's on the 2nd floor of the building next to the Nessa NPC.
Got questions? Here's the quick rundown:
- How much does Novice Swordsman cost? 250 Gold. - Where is Shiro? Near Anchor Town Pond, just behind Penniless Pete. - Do I need to complete quests to unlock it? No, you can buy it directly from Shiro, but you'll need his quests for the skills.
